Speaker, writer, teacher and evangelist, Mark Cahill, wrote a provocative book entitled “One Thing You Can’t Do in Heaven” some years back. I had received the book some some time ago during a university convocation that Cahill was speaking at. I heard him and was so excited! However I hadn’t seriously started reading the book until a few days ago. In Cahill’s book, he reminds the Christian world that the one thing that you can’t do in Heaven is—witness.
Really? A whole book on witnessing? How can that hold the interest of modern day Christians? I am proud to proclaim that this book is amazing and on point (though there are a few minor theology differences)! God has really touched the life of Cahill. He has witnessed to total strangers at concerts, restaurants, telephone, concerts, South Beach, and many other venues. I didn’t mention these moments as something that should be a novelty or as a new spiritual phenomenon. Every Christian that sincerely practices and believes the truth has heard repeatedly that we should witness to a lost world, but the sad reality is that we (as a whole) really haven’t take any concern to a dying world.
The principles outlined in Cahill’s book rekindled an excitement that I have been looking for! I really need to pass this on to you.
One illustration in particular is about tickets, it goes like this:
“If I threw a birthday party for you where every guest would receive $100,000 in cash and a Mercedes convertible, and I gave you fifty tickets to your party, how many people would you have at your party? No doubt, you would have fifty people. In fact, if on the way to your party you realized that you had a ticket remaining in your pocket, and you saw a homeless man, you would give him your extra ticket. Isn’t that similar to what God has done for us? He has given us a pocketful of tickets, and it is our job to hand out ticket after ticket to a place called Heaven (Pg. 172).”
He points out something that, he states, has been quoted for many years. Ant it is that “many Christians are going to die and stand in front of God with a pocket FULL of tickets (idid).” So tell me you guys, are you waiting until Heaven to witness? Guess what, you can’t.
I greatly recommend this book to everyone that can read!! Take the time to order it online and practice what you learn. Time is short, so please witness more.
God Bless,
Matt
